Job summary

Enjoin is seeking an experienced Inpatient Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) for a fully remote, full-time role. You will partner with physicians and CDI teams to enhance inpatient documentation accuracy, completeness, and data integrity, ensuring proper severity of illness and reimbursement.

Responsibilities include concurrent and retrospective chart reviews, compliant provider queries, and ongoing education of clinical staff in ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of acute inpatient CDI experience in a large tertiary or trauma hospital
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG assignment, and compliant query practices
• Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
• Experience educating providers on documentation best practices
• Familiarity with CDI best practices and payer documentation requirements

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records to assess accuracy and clinical integrity of physician documentation
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and issue concise provider queries per AHIMA/ACDIS guidelines
• Collaborate with physicians, coding staff, and clinical teams to improve documentation and coding accuracy
• Analyze clinical data, labs, medications, orders, tests to validate diagnoses and procedures
• Perform concurrent, continued stay, and retrospective reviews while meeting client productivity/quality expectations
• Monitor query follow-up and escalation per client workflows
• Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance during reviews
• Educate providers on documentation best practices for accurate representation and reimbursement
• Maintain understanding of inpatient coding, DRG assignment, and healthcare regulations
• Deliver high-quality work in a fully remote CDI environment
