Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Inland Marine Underwriter to balance data analytics with intuition while managing a diversified book of business. You will work with agents and brokers to assess risks, determine premiums and negotiate deals that maximize profitability.

The role supports remote and territory-based work, with advancement based on experience and performance within a collaborative underwriting team. A strong foundation in commercial lines underwriting is expected."

Qualifications

• Intermediate knowledge of insurance products, coverage and regulatory environment.
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting, pricing, risk selection and territory management.
• Bachelor's degree or 5–8 years of commercial lines underwriting experience preferred.
• CPCU or professional designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, grow and maintain a diversified Inland Marine book of business with agents and brokers.
• Assess risks, determine premiums, set conditions and negotiate deals for profitability.
• Write new accounts and grow agent/broker relationships and pursue renewals.
• Document reviews, state sign-offs and referrals per underwriting guidelines.
• Mentor other underwriters and share best practices while improving processes.
