Qualifications

• Intermediate-level knowledge of insurance products/coverage, market segments and marketplace; insurance finance and actuarial concepts; loss control/risk engineering; marketing/selling techniques, regulatory environment and reinsurance
• Advanced-level knowledge of underwriting, pricing, risk selection, territory management.
• Ability to apply underwriting/appetite, tools, systems, and resources to achieve goals, solve complex problems, establish and build healthy working relationships, participate in mentoring relationships, and negotiate as normally acquired through a related bachelor`s degree or 5-8 years of commercial lines underwriting experience preferred;
• CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Account Manager: ensure a profitable Inland Marine book of business by writing new accounts and growing relationships and renewals
• Problem solver: crunch numbers and data to determine risk selection, premiums, policies and conditions and identify growth opportunities
• Clear communicator: maintain relationships with agents and brokers, present proposals, negotiate deals and obtain approvals
• Collaborative teammate: mentor underwriters, share best practices and drive continuous improvement
• Conscientious professional: document reviews, sign-offs, referrals, letters of authority and follow underwriting guidelines
