Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Security Software Engineer to join the InfraSec team. You will architect and implement robust security services across hardware, OS, Kubernetes, and cloud environments to protect model weights and user data.

In this senior role, you will collaborate with engineers to embed security into high-performance compute clusters, build automation, and lead threat modeling to raise the security bar across the stack.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, Rust, or C/C++.
• Experience building or operating security infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Experience with multi-cloud platforms and Kubernetes security.
• Familiarity with modern authentication/authorization standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement production-grade security services (auth, proxies, key-management).
• Partner with infra and research engineers to embed security in HPC clusters.
• Develop automation and detection tooling for risk mitigation at scale.
• Lead design reviews and threat modeling for secure system launches.
