Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Infrastructure Security team. You will design and implement security controls across hardware, firmware, OS, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD to protect multi-cloud and on-prem environments.

You will collaborate with engineering and security colleagues to deploy security enhancements, manage secrets and machine identities, and raise the bar for security in evolving AI workloads.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of security principles, best practices, and vulnerabilities.
• Proactive mindset to automate security gaps and tooling.
• Track record delivering scalable security solutions across infrastructure.
• Expertise in securing cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and multi-cloud networks.
• Experience securing on-prem deployments from construction to multi-tenant use.
• Familiarity with container security, orchestration security, and authn/authz.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communicator.
• Excitement about collaborating with cross-functional teams to scale secure systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build security controls across hardware, firmware/BMC, OS, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to deploy security enhancements at scale across infrastructure.
• Tackle high-impact projects such as checkpoint encryption, network isolation, secret management, and machine identity.
• Balance security expertise with broad technical skills to adapt to evolving challenges.
