Job summary

ZMK Law, PLLC is seeking an experienced immigration attorney for asylum, removal defense and family-based practice. This is a fully remote, full-time role with in-person appearances at Immigration Court and USCIS interviews as needed in the NYC area, requiring travel when necessary.

You will manage removal-defense matters, review complex histories, draft I-589s and other EOIR filings, and represent clients at hearings, collaborating with paralegals and outside counsel to build strong cases.

Qualifications

• Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 3 years of immigration-law experience including removal defense and EOIR filings.
• Strong legal research, analysis, writing, and oral-advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple hearings and filing deadlines.
• Sound professional judgment and close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage removal-defense matters from initial assessment through final resolution.
• Review complex immigration histories and develop viable legal strategies and alternative pathways.
• Develop declarations and factual records; prepare Forms I-589 and EOIR applications.
• Draft legal briefs, motions, and hearing submissions.
• Prepare complete call-up packages; represent clients at master and individual calendar hearings.
• Conduct statutory, regulatory, administrative, and federal-court research.
• Coordinate with paralegals, interpreters, experts, and outside counsel.
• Review matters daily and maintain accurate case notes, deadlines, and tasks.
• Communicate legal risks and case developments promptly.
