Job summary

Kootenai Health is seeking an experienced Medical Coder to join our health system. You will assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPC codes and modifiers to reflect documented services while adhering to official guidelines and hospital policies.

You will educate providers, resolve payer denial issues with the billing team, and pursue process improvements with the Coding and Clinic leadership. Remote eligibility allows flexible work options where approved.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ICD-10/CPT/HCPC coding principles and AHIMA competencies.
• Ability to code for multiple specialties across EMRs and payer rules.
• Experience with coding software and provider education
• Familiarity with government and private payer regulations
• Strong communication skills and teamwork with clinics and billing

Responsibilities

• Reviews medical records to assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPC codes and modifiers per guidelines.
• Requests clarifications from providers to ensure complete documentation.
• Educates providers and collaborates with the billing team on denials and appeals.
• Maintains accuracy and productivity in coded claims and compliance with policies.
