Job summary

Adaptive Solutions Group is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with IBM i expertise for a 100% remote, 1+ year contract in the United States. The role focuses on maintaining IBM i environments while designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure across Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, and hybrid clouds.

Required are 5+ years in systems engineering and 3+ years with IBM i, plus a Bachelor's in a related field. The candidate must reside in the Greater St.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure administration, or related IT roles.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting IBM i (iSeries/AS400) environments.
• Experience managing enterprise server environments, including Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with virtualization, storage systems, backup/recovery solutions, and networking.
• Knowledge of enterprise security principles, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and access management.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and performing root cause analysis.
• Experience supporting high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Strong understanding of system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational support.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, system procedures, and support standards.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide after-hours support as needed.
• Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize IBM i (iSeries/AS400) environments to ensure reliable business operations.
• Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure across Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, and hybrid clouds.
• Manage system performance, security, upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system procedures, and support standards.
• Provide after-hours support as needed and collaborate with IT teams to handle incidents and changes.
• Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments and ongoing modernization efforts.
