Job summary

South Texas College is seeking an Supplemental Instruction Leader to provide academic learning support, conduct supplemental instruction, and tutor students in classrooms and skill labs. The role includes assisting with daily operations of the Centers for Learning Excellence on campus in McAllen, TX.

Responsibilities include leading small group discussions, preparing instructional materials, attending required trainings, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college certificate or 30 college hours, preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery of sufficient coursework in subject, earning at least a grade of B required, preferably an A.

Responsibilities

• Provides educational assistance to students to improve comprehension and mastery of the subject.
• Assists in preparation of workshops and materials to enhance student comprehension and supplement course assignments.
• Attends classes or study sessions for currently enrolled students onsite or online as assigned.
• Guides students in diverse instructional settings by providing feedback and answering questions using hands-on practice.
• Develops and maintains working relationships with instructors, students, and supervisors.
• Keeps regular and accurate records and lesson plans using required software and forms.
