Job summary

Houston Community College in Houston, TX, seeks a Supplemental Instruction Leader (Part-time) to support students outside class sessions, in weekly SI meetings for targeted courses. You will assist faculty by duplicating instruction, organizing plans, advertising sessions, and helping with data collection, training, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree is preferred.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technological, academic, and instructional support in weekly SI sessions for all students in targeted courses.
• Attend class meetings, take notes, and complete all assigned materials.
• Advertise and announce SI sessions to students.
• Organize, maintain, and control lesson plans for each SI session.
• Provide engaging activities to develop study strategies.
• Attend orientation and training each semester, plus development sessions.
• Assist with administrative duties and data collection (attendance, surveys, planning sheets).
• Report student issues to instructors and the SI Director.
• Maintain and model positive student behavior.
