Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems seeks an HVAC Mechanical Engineer / Project Developer to support U.S. military and federal sites in the National Capital Region. This is a remote position with occasional site visits in the Washington, D.C.

area for assessments. You will lead design, development, scope definition, and cost development for facility improvement projects involving mechanical systems and controls, often ranging from $100k to $2M.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing SOWs for HVAC/mechanical projects.
  • Capability to lead design and cost development for federal projects.
  • Strong estimating and risk assessment abilities.
  • Experience presenting to customers is a plus.
  • Citizenship and ability to obtain government clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and develop a Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Lead design, development, scope, and cost for HVAC and low voltage projects.
  • Collaborate with Sales to define goals and opportunities; prepare concept proposals and equipment selections.
  • Survey sites, collect data, and develop concepts for maintenance/improvement projects ($100k–$2M).
  • Review RFPs and design docs to obtain accurate pricing; prepare RFIs and VE concepts.
  • Write technical proposals with schedules; ensure feasibility and adherence to codes and requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with customer technical personnel and manage multiple projects.
  • Support Operations in risk planning, staffing, and scheduling; post-award activities.
