Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a High Voltage Circuit Breaker Field Engineer to travel nationwide, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying HV breakers in substations. Work is outdoors with tools, meters, and test equipment; travel by car or plane is required.

The role is remote from home with a company credit card and computer provided. You will support outage schedules, document findings, and communicate with customers and engineering teams while upholding safety and quality

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with high voltage circuit breakers or in electrical substation environments.
• Proficient in commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of high voltage circuit breakers (72.5 kV – 550 kV).
• Ability to travel extensively by car or airplane and work outdoors in substation environments while maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of high voltage circuit breakers.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues using hand tools and test equipment to ensure system reliability.
• Execute field work independently while managing scope, documentation, and reporting.
• Communicate updates to customers and teams, ensuring alignment on scope and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and site personnel to support commissioning activities and outage schedules.
• Maintain safety and quality standards while working outdoors in substation environments.
