Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning and energization for HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities across the U.S. The role involves travel and active field participation, serving as the technical interface among PMs, Owners, Utilities, OEMs, and Field Services, while working in a fully remote capacity.

The position requires extensive knowledge of protection and control systems, power quality, and harmonic analysis, plus experience in commissioning plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of experience in testing and commissioning HV substations, BESS and utility-scale PV facilities.
• 3–4 years’ experience performing and directing HV switching operations.
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems, power quality and harmonic analysis.
• 1–2 years developing commissioning plans, energization procedures and training materials.

Responsibilities

• Attend Owner, Utility and stakeholder meetings as requested.
• Develop Testing & Commissioning plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Develop, review and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS and PV systems.
• Lead and support initial substation energization activities and field coordination.
• Perform HV switching operations and harmonic measurements as required.
• Provide on-site training and mentor junior staff.
• Provide post-energization technical support and system troubleshooting.
