Job summary

Group-CBS in Indianapolis, IN seeks a High Voltage Apparatus Specialist to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and commission HV equipment. The role is shop-based with occasional travel to customer sites and substations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, regulators, and reclosers, plus strong electrical testing and diagnostic skills. Must relocate within 60 miles if needed and pass screenings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical testing, maintenance, construction, commissioning, or related power industry work.
• Experience working with low-, medium-, and high-voltage apparatus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, retrofit, and test 480V-72kV air, vacuum, and SF6 circuit breakers, 138kV-550kV SF6 circuit breakers and circuit switchers, reclosers, sectionalizers, regulators, and transformers.
• Operate electrical testing equipment (primary/secondary injection test sets, insulation analyzers, contact resistance meters, breaker time/travel analyzers, power factor test sets, CT analyzers).
• Complete PEARL documentation and PowerDB test reports accurately and on time.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, PEARL, NETA, and company safety requirements.
• Support project planning, scheduling, execution, and cost control activities.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and company vehicles.
