Job summary

Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. seeks a HUD Certified SMART Homeownership Coach to empower clients toward sustainable homeownership through counseling, education, and financial capability services. The role includes intake, one-on-one counseling, and workshops while maintaining accurate records and ensuring grant and certification compliance.

The position collaborates on outreach, marketing, and community partnerships to expand access to homeownership resources. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• HUD Housing Counselor Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized homeownership counseling per HUD requirements and industry standards.
• Review intake data, assess finances, barriers, and set goals with clients.
• Enter counseling activities and outcomes into HUD-compliant systems.
• Maintain complete counseling files and required documentation.
• Conduct group Homebuyer Education and other approved workshops.
• Develop and maintain community partnerships to support homeownership goals.
