Sharing Excess is a fast-growing food rescue organization with hubs in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and Detroit. We seek an HR Generalist, Recruiting to own end-to-end recruitment across hubs, handling warehouse and professional roles, while also supporting onboarding and HRIS tasks.

You will join a small, hands-on People Operations team led by the HR Manager, collaborating with the Senior HR Generalist, Compliance & Payroll to ensure smooth hiring handoffs and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, in-house or agency.
• Experience with both high-volume hourly hiring and professional or salaried searches.
• Working knowledge of HR operations, such as onboarding, I-9s, HRIS, and employee relations basics.
• Familiarity with employment law as it applies to hiring, including fair chance and pay transparency requirements.
• Experience with an applicant tracking system and HRIS.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly with candidates and managers.
• Strong organization, follow-through, and discretion with confidential information.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to Sharing Excess hub locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Own the hiring process end to end: intake meetings, job postings, sourcing, screening, interview scheduling, debriefs, references, and offers.
• Partner with hiring managers to define role needs, interview plans, and selection criteria before a role opens.
• Source candidates through job boards, community partners, colleges, and referrals, with a focus on local talent in each hub.
• Manage high-volume hourly hiring for warehouse, driver, and operations roles.
• Coach managers on structured, inclusive interviewing and compliant processes.
• Maintain the applicant tracking system and keep candidates informed at every stage.
• Prepare offer letters and handoffs to onboarding.
• Track recruiting metrics and report on time-to-fill and source of hire.
• Keep careers page current and reflect mission and culture.
• Support annual hiring plan and budget alignment.
• Step in as backup HR Generalist for onboarding, HRIS, and compliance tasks.
• Assist with onboarding paperwork, I-9 verification, orientation, and 30/60/90-day checks.
• Maintain employee records and HRIS data accuracy.
• Support offboarding, engagement surveys, and culture initiatives.
