Job summary

UW Information Technology in Seattle is seeking an HPC Systems Engineer to support research computing clusters and related technologies. The role requires designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable Linux-based systems with automation and software-defined approaches, interfacing with UWIT teams and research customers.

Responsibilities include on-call rotation, system engineering, administration, monitoring, and technical support, with a hybrid in-office schedule and potential remote work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of Linux system administration experience or substantial Linux experience.
• Strong knowledge of networking hardware, software, protocols, and concepts.
• Excellent written and oral communication, technical documentation, and user liaison skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain HPC systems and monitoring.
• Administer Linux servers and services, including firmware and software updates.
• Monitor health and troubleshoot performance issues across HPC clusters.
• Provide on-call support for 24x7 operations and on-call pages.
