Job summary

System One is seeking a Software Developer for Scientific Computer & DevOps on a long-term contract. The role is remote–offsite with a 40-hour workweek, focusing on scalable software architectures, HPC workflows, and reliable CI/CD pipelines.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering or DevOps, a CS-related bachelor’s, and strong skills in Linux HPC environments, containerization, and modern development practices. Familiarity with SLURM and Docker is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering or DevOps experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• Experience in Linux-based HPC or batch computing environments.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and modern development practices.
• Experience with containerization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software architecture discussions and implement long-term reliability.
• Design and implement features with clarity, maintainability, and performance.
• Support architecture, configuration, testing, and documentation to satisfy regulated environments.
• Create and optimize multi-repo CI/CD pipelines and containerized workflows.
• Support HPC workflows and collaborate with IT for integration and troubleshooting.
• Improve release processes and regression-test infrastructure.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering analysts, and developers to deliver robust tools.
• Reduce technical debt and promote maintainable design patterns.
