Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Health Information Coder I/III for a remote role within the Revenue Cycle team. You will assign ICD and CPT codes for surgical and ancillary services and abstract data to support quality and billing activities.

The position requires an AHIMA or AAPC accredited program and CPC/RHIT/RHIA certification, plus at least 3 years of surgical coding and 6 months of outpatient coding experience, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC accredited coding program completion with maintained credentials
• CPC, RHIT or RHIA certification obtained
• 3 years professional surgical case coding experience
• 6 months experience coding outpatient ancillary/surgical records
• Experience coding professional surgical cases across at least one specialty

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving ancillary and surgical services
• Abstract coded data into abstracting information system
• Enter data into electronic databases for quality, outcomes, and financial analysis
