Job summary

UC San Diego Health's Revenue Cycle department seeks an experienced auditor to review, audit, and remediate deviations from inpatient facility coding. This role trains coding staff, helps with queries, and supports data integrity for HEDIS, CMS, and Vizient.

The ideal candidate has seven years of related auditing experience or a Bachelor's with three years in audit, thorough knowledge of internal controls, and strong communication skills; RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Seven years of related auditing experience in a large academic hospital system or a Bachelor's Degree plus three years auditing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of audit principles, internal control concepts, and professional auditing standards.
• Gathers, organizes and performs analysis for moderately complex audit assignments; working on advanced concepts.

Responsibilities

• Review, audit, and remediate deviations from compliant inpatient facility coding and educate staff.
• Oversee generation and approvals of queries to ensure timely responses.
• Ensure data integrity and support denial avoidance for external reporting (HEDIS, CMS, Vizient).
• Represent coding leadership at optimization, CDI, and interdisciplinary meetings.
