Job summary

UC San Diego Health's Revenue Cycle department seeks a Health Information Coder to assign ICD and CPT codes for ancillary and surgical services, and to abstract data for quality and financial analysis.

Depending on experience, the selected candidate may be hired at Health Information Coder level I or III. AHIMA/AAPC credentials and surgical coding experience are required, with overtime flexibility as needed.

Qualifications

• Completed AHIMA or AAPC accredited coding program and certification.
• 3+ years professional surgical case coding experience.
• Experience coding outpatient ancillary and surgical records.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD and CPT codes for ancillary and surgical services.
• Assigns APCs for patient accounts and CPTs for professional records.
• Abstracts coded data into an abstracting information system.
• Data entry into electronic databases for quality, outcome analysis and financial management.
