Job summary

Engage PEO is seeking a Benefits Underwriter to manage health insurance risk and premium pricing for prospects and clients. You will review submissions, develop competitive pricing, and ensure accuracy throughout the pricing process, partnering with consultants and sales to support growth while maintaining risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience in financial analysis or pricing and/or health benefits underwriting.
• PEO experience is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with ACA and compliance, preferred.
• Strong analytical skills to understand numeric data to interpret and apply pricing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support the internal team or third-party vendor in reviewing submissions and set up underwriting tools.
• Review data for completeness and accuracy while reviewing the risk and assigning the associated premium.
• Evaluate proposed prospects and Engage benefit pricing and proposal and communicate final pricing to the consultant and sales teams.
• Prepare available plan portfolio options for each medical proposal generated.
• Prepare Multiplan comparisons and contribution analysis when appropriate.
• Work with the underwriting team to produce monthly reports relating to quotes, quote volume, quote tracking, book performance, and other related data.
• Provide Quote Analysis and appropriate actuarial review of data and offer insight into changes or updates to the process to achieve plan performance targets.
• Ensure that all systems are accurately updated with all underwriting metrics and data.
• Work closely with Sales Support, Underwriting, Operations, and Business units to understand the Engage PEO sales model and value proposition.
• Work directly with client services, sales, and other members of the benefits teams for questions regarding plan offerings and guidelines.
• Work closely with the other team members to generate proposals utilizing third-party analysis, parity tools, health scores, and carrier-established manual rates.
