Job summary

Grüns is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to own the data platform and lead the team building it. This remote HQ role focuses on cleaner models, reduced tech debt, and trusted numbers across the company.

You will own the data roadmap, refactor legacy jobs, and ensure data quality while managing warehouse costs. 8+ years in data engineering/architecture and 3+ years leading teams are required; BigQuery, SQL, Python, and dbt are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data architecture or data engineering
• 3+ years leading teams
• Strong SQL, Python skills and modeling
• Experience scaling cloud data platforms
• ERP exposure is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own data roadmap and data model with a single source of truth
• Refactor legacy jobs and reduce tech debt
• Ensure pipelines are resilient and data is accurate
• Manage warehouse and infrastructure costs as data volume grows
• Run intake process and sprint cadence with business impact focus
• Lead and coach a small team, code reviews and growth paths
• Integrate new enterprise systems into the warehouse
• Make the team AI-native using AI agents for development and data quality
