Job summary

Grata, a leading private-market dealmaking platform, seeks a Data Engineering Team Lead to own the technical direction and delivery of the data platforms powering Grata's products and analytics. You will split time between architecture and people leadership, partnering with Product, Data Science, and Application Engineering to drive reliable, high-impact data work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating production data systems at scale.
• Experience leading a team or mentoring engineers on complex initiatives.
• Fluent in Python and SQL; expert with Spark/Databricks and lakehouse patterns.
• Strong data modeling skills and setting engineering standards.
• Experience running workloads in AWS (storage, compute, networking, cost controls).
• Hands-on with orchestration (Airflow/Databricks Workflows/dbt), CI/CD for data, and IaC.
• Able to switch between deep technical work and people leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Data Engineering team; set goals and priorities.
• Define architecture and standards for ELT/ETL pipelines in Python/SQL/Spark.
• Evolve the lakehouse and data warehouse with scalable patterns.
• Shape real-time/near-real-time data processing and exactly-once semantics.
• Ensure quality, lineage, governance, testing, and documentation.
• Own SLOs, on-call rotations, and cost-management for data platforms.
