Job summary

UnitedHealth Group / OptumCare is seeking a remote Medical Coder to ensure accurate coding for CMS Medicare Advantage plans. You will review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM codes in accordance with guidelines.

The role offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S. with a pay range of $18–$32/hour depending on experience and market. High attention to detail and strong communication are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Coding program certificate or 2 years of equivalent experience.
• Proof of 10+ hours ICD-10-CM training or AAPC ICD-10-CM assessment.
• CCS-P/CPC/CPC-A/CRC credentials required or equivalent.
• ICD-10-CM coding knowledge and accuracy.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in English (reading/writing/speaking).
• Ability to work with diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate coding to CMS requirements for Medicare Advantage plans.
• Maintain documentation per Official ICD-10-CM Guidelines.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve coding queries.
