Job summary

NetBox Labs is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one of our software teams responsible for NetBox and related OSS/Cloud products. You will stay hands-on, review designs, and drive sprint planning, while mentoring engineers and ensuring high-quality releases.

The role emphasizes shipping features on time, collaborating with product managers, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement in a remote, async-first setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams, preferably in a player-coach role.
• Ability to unblock teams and drive projects to closure under tight timelines.
• Strong technical background to review designs and code and earn credibility with senior engineers.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD in fast-moving environments.
• Proficiency with GitHub for code management and collaboration.
• Solid understanding of software security principles and practices.
• Experience with open-source software development and community engagement is a plus.
• Excellent, direct communication skills in a remote, async-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of engineers day-to-day while staying hands-on: review code, participate in design discussions, and contribute when needed to unblock the team.
• Drive execution by breaking down problems, setting sprint goals, removing blockers, and upholding deadlines.
• Own the software development lifecycle from planning to release for your team's projects.
• Run effective sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives using GitHub and internal tools.
• Champion modern, secure software development practices and maintain high quality without slowing the team.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate customer problems into shippable plans and timelines.
• Mentor engineers, provide timely feedback, and help grow technical capabilities within the team.
