Job summary

NetBox Labs, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead one of our software teams responsible for NetBox, Add-ons, SDKs, Plugins, and our observability suite. You will manage delivery, mentor engineers, and align product plans with community-driven open-source initiatives.

You will stay close to code and architecture, ensure secure, scalable software, and partner with product managers to translate customer problems into solid execution plans in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead, still coding or reviewing PRs regularly.
• Track record of delivering projects on tight timelines with bias toward action.
• Strong technical background to review designs and code and earn credibility with senior engineers.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD in fast-moving environments.
• Proficiency with GitHub for code management and collaboration.
• Solid understanding of software security principles and practices.
• Experience with open-source development and community engagement is a plus.
• Excellent, direct communication skills in a remote, async-first environment.
• Proven ability to coach engineers while hands-on when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of engineers day-to-day while remaining hands-on, reviewing code and guiding design discussions.
• Drive execution by breaking down ambiguous problems into plans, setting sprint goals, and removing blockers.
• Own the software development lifecycle from planning to release for your teams projects.
• Run efficient sprint planning, stand-ups, and retros with GitHub and internal tools.
• Champion secure software development practices and maintain high quality without slowing the team.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate problems into shippable plans and manage scope.
• Coach engineers, provide feedback, and build a strong bench for future hiring.
• Foster ownership, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support open-source contributors and community-facing initiatives where relevant.
