Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking an Operations Manager, Government Grants to provide operational coordination for government-funded grants throughout their lifecycle. This full-time, grant-funded role offers flexible, home-based work in the United States and reports to the National Government Funding Director.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with financial systems, journal entries, and expense management.
• Understanding of OMB Uniform Guidance and NIH policies.
• Knowledge of federal funding mechanisms and compliance expectations.
• Experience with federal grantors such as CDC, HRSA, NIH.
• Proven ability to manage projects in accordance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Expense Review: ensure expenses and invoices are accurate, approved, and submitted promptly.
• Prior Approval & Compliance: identify required approvals or waivers and coordinate documentation.
• Budget Planning and Monitoring: assist in budget planning, monitoring, and forecasting for grants.
• Personnel and Compensation Documentation: support salary distribution and effort-related documentation.
• Subrecipient and Contractor Coordination: manage forms, track approvals, and assist with monitoring.
• Communication, Reporting, and Deliverable Tracking: draft responses and track milestones and reports.
• Cost Transfers and Expense Reallocations: support transfers and ensure approvals.
• Records Management and Closeout Support: maintain audit-ready project files and closeout records.
• Other Duties: perform additional tasks as assigned.
