Job summary

CFS seeks a Grant Accountant to join its nonprofit finance team. This fully remote role manages a portfolio of state and federal grants, owning budgeting, reporting, and month-end close with hands-on grant accounting experience.

The position offers a flexible start time and comprehensive benefits, including a 403(b) match, tuition reimbursement, PTO, paid holidays, and health plan options. Residents from FL, TN, GA, NC, or SC are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; Finance degree considered with strong accounting experience.
• Hands-on grant accounting experience required.
• Full-cycle accounting experience required; those with mainly AP may not fit.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, formulas) required.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of state and federal grants.
• Prepare and analyze grant budgets, budget-to-actual results, and financial reporting.
• Review grant-related expenditures and ensure costs are properly recorded and supported.
• Prepare journal entries and support monthly close activities.
• Perform account analysis and research accounting discrepancies or posting issues.
• Monitor grant activity to ensure financial information remains accurate and aligned with funding requirements.
• Partner with internal teams on grant-related accounting, budgeting, and reporting needs.
• Support financial analysis and other full-cycle accounting responsibilities as needed.
