Key Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant
- Manage accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of state and federal grants
- Prepare and analyze grant budgets, budget-to-actual results, and financial reporting
- Review grant-related expenditures and ensure costs are properly recorded and supported
- Prepare journal entries and support monthly close activities
- Perform account analysis and research accounting discrepancies or posting issues
- Monitor grant activity to ensure financial information remains accurate and aligned with funding requirements
- Partner with internal teams on grant-related accounting, budgeting, and reporting needs
- Support financial analysis and other full-cycle accounting responsibilities as needed
Qualifications For The Grant Accountant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; Finance degree considered with strong accounting experience
- Hands-on grant accounting experience required
- Full-cycle accounting experience required; candidates whose experience is primarily Accounts Payable will not be a fit
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas
- Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, journal entries, and month-end close
- Experience working with state and/or federal grants strongly preferred
- Abila MIP or similar nonprofit accounting software experience preferred
- Must currently reside in FL, TN, GA, NC, or SC
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
