Job summary

Charles River is seeking a Chief Compliance Officer to design and enhance the global ethics and compliance program. The CCO leads risk assessments, investigations, and regulatory readiness, and advises executive leadership and the Board. Remote role with 20% travel.

The role requires deep experience in life sciences compliance, global operations, and building high‑performing teams across regions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in compliance, legal, risk management, ethics, governance, or related control functions.
• Experience as Chief Compliance Officer or Deputy CCO for a multinational company.
• Experience managing programs in China and other complex international markets.
• Experience in life sciences or regulated global businesses.
• Ability to lead in a matrixed global organization and influence stakeholders.
• Experience advising executive leadership and the Board on risk and ethics matters.
• Experience building and developing high-performing global teams.

Responsibilities

• Set compliance strategy and oversee a global ethics and compliance framework.
• Lead enterprise compliance risk assessments and mitigation planning.
• Oversee regulatory obligations, investigations, audits, and inquiries.
• Lead third‑party compliance programs, due diligence, and contracting.
• Develop enterprise training, communications, and executive education on ethics.
• Advise leadership and the Board on program effectiveness, risks, and trends.
• Build and develop a global compliance organization with strong accountability.
