Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a GIS Analyst / Modeler to join our Ocean Science team, with flexibility to be based in our South Kingstown, RI office, or work remotely within the Eastern or Central Region of the United States. We are open to hybrid work schedules in our South Kingstown, Rhode Island office, or remote work schedules within the eastern or central regional time zones of the United States.

This is a full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with standard hours of 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, engineering, computer science, oceanography, biology, environmental science, or a related field.
• 1+ year of professional GIS experience or 2 years of research GIS experience.
• Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS suite including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, and Spatial Analyst extension.
• Familiarity with geodatabases, shapefiles, and rasters; GIS data creation and QA/QC.
• Experience with cloud computing and hosted data.
• Cartographic design for reports and posters.
• Basic GIS programming/scripting in Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication; independent and team work.

Responsibilities

• Create, digitize, convert, edit, compile, and standardize GIS data from non-spatial sources.
• Organize and structure spatial data files across servers and databases; maintain data versioning.
• Perform QA/QC and data cleaning for geospatial and model input/output data.
• Research, gather, prepare, and integrate geospatial environmental data for modeling.
• Prepare and integrate raster and vector datasets for model inputs.
• Develop tools and workflows to analyze, interpret, and present model results.
• Conduct modeling studies using proprietary model software.
• Contribute to technical reports and develop high-quality maps and figures.
