Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Data Coordinator to join our Ocean Science team, with hybrid work options in Anchorage, AK or remote within US time zones in Alaska, Hawaii-Aleutian, or Pacific regions.

The role focuses on organizing, documenting, and preserving oceanographic and environmental datasets, ensuring FAIR Data Principles and CARE Principles, and supporting data management across multiple projects with researchers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in LIS or related field.
• Entry-level considered with coursework and internship.
• Familiar with CSV and NetCDF data formats.
• Knowledge of ISO, EML, Darwin Core, CF Conventions, and ACDD.
• Strong ability to synthesize technical information for diverse audiences.
• Self-motivated, independent, and flexible in prioritizing tasks.
• Familiarity with Python or R.
• Experience in agile development environments.
• Experience publishing open data products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize and document datasets for long-term preservation and access.
• Apply standardized data and metadata formats for analysis-ready datasets.
• Develop and maintain data delivery schedules for research teams.
• Salvage, document, and improve historical datasets.
• Provide user support for data portals and tools.
• Train partner scientists on data management best practices.
• Support data management across multiple projects and partners.
