Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Data Coordinator to organize, document, and preserve oceanographic datasets with a focus on FAIR data principles. You will collaborate with researchers and software engineers to support data curation and data product development.

Strong communication and independent work skills are essential. Hybrid work options include Anchorage, AK, or remote within selected US time zones. This role offers growth in data management and scientific collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific field.
  • Entry-level candidates considered; relevant coursework/internship required.
  • Familiarity with data management practices and CSV/NetCDF formats.
  • Knowledge of ISO, EML, Darwin Core, CF Conventions, and ACDD metadata formats.
  • Ability to synthesize technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with data management and metadata tools (DataONE, NCEI, EDI, Dataverse, Dryad, Zenodo).
  • Familiarity with Python or R and basic scripting.
  • Experience in software development or agile environments.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and document oceanographic/environmental datasets for long-term preservation and accessibility.
  • Apply standardized data formats to ensure analysis-ready datasets.
  • Develop and maintain data delivery schedules for research teams and stakeholders.
  • Support historical data salvage, manipulation, and documentation.
  • Provide user support for data portals and management tools.
  • Coach researchers on data management best practices.
  • Provide lifecycle support through meetings, conferences, and demonstrations.
  • Support multiple projects with flexible timelines and contacts.
