Job summary
Caterpillar is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to support the Electric Power Division in designing, developing, and implementing generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams from concept through commissioning.
The role involves retrofitting projects, PLC/HMI development, schematic reading, and collaboration with CAD teams.
Qualifications
- Experience cross-functionally with engineers, contractors, consultants, and end users.
- Automation and controls experience including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and DCS.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope and support proposals.
- Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
- Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of projects.
