Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division is seeking an electrical controls professional to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You’ll deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, running retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning.

You will identify retrofit opportunities, program PLC/HMI applications, convert legacy PLCs, and train technicians and customers while collaborating with dealers, factories, and CAD designers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with automation and controls, PLCs and HMIs.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to create wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessments and support field performance.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support centers.
• Submit project docs, reports, and expenses timely.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams.
