LanguageLine Solutions LLC is seeking a Gen-English Phone Interpreter working from home in the United States. This independent contractor role involves handling on-demand interpretation sessions across multiple industries, with pay per minute.

You will render spoken meaning between Gen and English speakers, maintain cultural sensitivity, and adhere to interpretation protocols while enjoying opportunities for advancement and access to support desks.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Gen-English and English with cultural dynamics.
• Ability to assess regional/accent differences for LEP.
• Excellent listening and note-taking skills for accuracy.
• Remain neutral on sensitive topics (e.g., end of life, termination, vaccinations).
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adapt to LanguageLine technology enhancements.
• Must be 18 or older and legally allowed to work in the US.
• Applicants must have work authorization not requiring visa sponsorship.
• Reading and writing the requested languages is highly preferred.
• Post-offer background check/drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly, professional manner.
• Render correct concepts according to interpretation protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions.
• Remain calm during emotionally charged or emergency calls (e.g., 911).
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations while protecting LEP privacy.
• Understand protocols across Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment.
• Handle calls with potential high volume and maintain service standards.
