Job summary

Pavago is hiring an Accounting Manager to own financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, and multi-entity accounting across client accounts. This is a hands-on role focused on accrual-based financials, GAAP compliance, and audit-ready records.

You will manage AP/AR, sales tax filings, and payroll processing (Gusto or similar), while delivering timely, accurate financial reporting and insights to leadership. Remote work within U.S. business hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Strong experience with accrual accounting and GAAP financials.
• Experience managing multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-segment accounting.
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Desktop, or Enterprise.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Data Tables.
• Hands-on payroll processing experience with Gusto or similar systems.
• Experience with U.S. sales tax filings.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and month-end close.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• High attention to detail and financial accuracy; comfortable working remotely during U.S. business hours.

Responsibilities

• Execute accurate and timely month-end close processes.
• Prepare and maintain financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Maintain clean, structured, and audit-ready workpapers.
• Ensure financial reporting follows GAAP/accrual accounting standards.
• Identify and resolve reporting discrepancies.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple entities and locations.
• Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Manage day-to-day accounting activities.
• Review account activity and resolve discrepancies.
• Process payroll using Gusto or similar payroll platforms.
• Manage employee setup and onboarding within payroll systems.
• Maintain accurate payroll documentation.
• Calculate and file U.S. state sales tax.
• Monitor filing requirements and deadlines.
• Build custom financial and management reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights.
• Create reporting and data visualizations to support decision-making.
• Review and document accounting processes and SOPs.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Standardize workflows across clients, entities, and accounting systems.
• Build more accurate and scalable accounting processes.
• Communicate regularly with leadership regarding priorities and deliverables.
• Support client-facing financial communication when required.
• Maintain visibility into reporting deadlines and outstanding items.
• Proactively identify and elevate accounting issues.
