Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java software engineer for a remote role open to qualified applicants in the United States. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java 7/8, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot, and lead components, microservices, REST APIs.

You will collaborate with architects and product owners, perform code reviews, mentor junior developers, and participate in CI/CD and production support.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java 7/8, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Lead the development and implementation of application components, microservices, REST APIs, and backend services following established SDLC practices.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs, specifications, and development activities.
• Develop high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code utilizing coding standards, design patterns, and industry best practices.
• Leverage Java 8 functional programming capabilities, including Lambda expressions, Streams API, and Optional classes, to enhance application performance and code quality.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
• Perform code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
• Participate in performance tuning, troubleshooting, debugging, and production support activities.
• Ensure application security, reliability, scalability, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Support automated build and deployment processes through CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
