Job summary

Backflip, a venture-backed FinTech in residential real estate investment financing, is looking for a Software Engineer who will design, build, and ship features across a TypeScript/React frontend and a Python backend. You will own integrations and backend services and contribute to reliability from day one.

This remote role prefers candidates in Austin, TX, with occasional travel; reports to Head of Engineering and offers equity stock options, health care, and a 401K match as part of a strong

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software.
• Strong full-stack ability with a backend lean; TypeScript/React and Python.
• Experience owning services, APIs, or integrations end-to-end.
• Testing, monitoring, and reliability discipline.
• Early-stage startup experience (seed/Series A–B) is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or AI tooling is a strong plus.
• Remote/distributed work experience is preferred.
• Self-directed, accountable, proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across a TypeScript/React frontend and a TypeScript/Python backend.
• Own and extend integrations and backend services (LoanPro, HubSpot, internal APIs).
• Add tests, monitoring, and instrumentation to raise reliability.
• Investigate and resolve production issues and drive down recurring errors.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and planning; communicate proactively in a Slack-first team.
• Use AI coding tools and automation to work faster and reduce manual, repetitive work.
