Job summary

FINN is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer in Product Engineering. This remote role spans the Eastern Hemisphere with timezone overlap; you will ship backend services, APIs, and pipelines that power our wage-access fintech platform.

You’ll own features end-to-end, influence technical direction, and collaborate with product teams. We value autonomy, fast iteration, and clean, scalable code across TypeScript, Python, and PHP in AWS/GCP environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping backend systems in production.
• Strong fundamentals in at least one core language (TypeScript, Python, PHP).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP), containerization, and CI/CD.
• Ability to operate independently: take ownership of a problem and drive it forward.
• Clear communicator who can articulate tradeoffs and advocate for their approach.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend services that power our financial products — APIs, automation pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
• Own features end-to-end: design, implement, and ship with speed while iterating based on usage
• Contribute to technical direction — advocate for better patterns, tooling, and developer experience
• Partner with product and engineering to define solutions, not just execute specs
• Write clean, reliable code at a high pace — balancing quality and speed
• Raise the bar for the team through code reviews and technical input
