Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Frontend Developer to build and modernize federal apps on a serverless AWS GovCloud stack. The role starts with frontend work and grows into full-stack Python/AWS as needed, with a strong focus on accessibility and security.

Remote within CONUS; requires a Bachelor's degree and 5–10 years of frontend or full-stack experience, plus React/Redux, CSS/SASS, and Cypress/Jest testing. Salary $90k–$110k per year, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in a STEM field or related with 5–10 years frontend/full-stack experience.
5+ years of JavaScript development.
2+ years React with Redux or similar state management.
2+ years CSS/SASS experience.
Experience connecting frontends to REST APIs on a serverless AWS backend.
Python for backend growth is expected.
Familiarity with ML/AI and large language/models.
Automated testing with Cypress and Jest or similar.
Git and GitHub PR reviews; Agile/Scrum experience.
Strong written and verbal communication; AWS Associate certification planned within 9 months.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain React/Redux applications in JavaScript.
Integrate frontends with REST APIs on AWS API Gateway and Lambda.
Develop backend services in Python as you grow to full-stack.
Integrate AI features using LLMs and vision models; manage prompts/context.
Handle non-deterministic AI outputs and multiple valid results.
Implement UI with CSS/SASS from designer wireframes.
Ensure Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
Apply frontend security practices including OWASP, authentication, JWT, and PHI/PII protection.
Maintain frontend build chain and update dependencies.
Write unit and component tests; build Cypress end-to-end tests in CI/CD.
Submit and review GitHub pull requests.
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Jira task creation.
Post daily status updates in Jira.
Support UAT, ATO, and security compliance activities.
