Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Frontend Developer to build and modernize federal applications on a serverless AWS GovCloud stack. The role starts with frontend work and grows into full-stack Python/AWS capabilities, with a focus on accessibility and security.

You will collaborate in cross-functional teams, implement modern web apps, and contribute to AI-enabled features while meeting security and Section 508 requirements. Remote within CONUS, with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related STEM field with 5–10 years frontend/full-stack experience.
• 5+ years of JavaScript development.
• 2+ years of React, including Redux or similar state management.
• 2+ years of CSS and SASS.
• Experience integrating frontends with REST APIs on a serverless backend (AWS API Gateway, Lambda).
• Python for backend development.
• Familiarity with ML and AI, especially LLMs and vision models.
• Automated testing experience with Cypress and Jest or similar.
• Git and GitHub pull request reviews.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to earn AWS Associate certification within 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain React and Redux applications in JavaScript.
• Integrate frontends with REST APIs on AWS API Gateway and Lambda.
• Build backend services in Python on AWS serverless technologies as you grow into full-stack work.
• Integrate AI features built on LLMs and vision models into applications, including prompt engineering.
• Handle non-deterministic AI output and ensure consistent results.
• Implement frontend layouts from designer wireframes using CSS/SASS.
• Meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Apply frontend security practices including OWASP guidelines and JWT handling.
• Maintain frontend build chain and update dependencies.
• Write unit and component tests and Cypress end-to-end tests in CI/CD.
• Submit and review GitHub pull requests.
• Participate in sprint planning, Jira stories, backlog refinement, and estimation.
• Post daily status updates in Jira.
• Support UAT, ATO, and security compliance activities.
