Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Frontend Developer to build and modernize federal applications on a serverless AWS GovCloud stack. The role starts in frontend and grows into full-stack development with Python on AWS. You’ll work with React/Redux, REST APIs, and CI/CD in a remote CONUS setting.

Ideal candidates have strong JavaScript, CSS/SASS, and accessibility skills, plus familiarity with AI features and security practices. Bachelor's degree required and readiness to earn an AWS Associate cert within 9 months.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5–10 years frontend or full-stack experience.
• 5+ years of JavaScript development.
• 2+ years of React, including Redux or similar state management.
• 2+ years of CSS/SASS.
• Experience integrating frontends with REST APIs on a serverless backend (AWS API Gateway, Lambda).
• Python for backend development.
• Familiarity with AI/ML, especially LLMs and vision models.
• Automated testing experience (Cypress/Jest).
• Git and GitHub PR reviews.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Willing to earn an AWS Associate cert within 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain React and Redux applications in JavaScript.
• Integrate frontends with REST APIs on AWS API Gateway and Lambda.
• Build backend services in Python on AWS serverless tech as you grow to full-stack.
• Integrate AI features built on LLMs and vision models.
• Handle non-deterministic AI outputs and varying results.
• Implement UI with CSS/SASS from wireframes.
• Meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Apply frontend security practices (OWASP, JWT, PHI/PII protection).
• Maintain frontend build chain and dependencies.
• Write unit and Cypress end-to-end tests in CI/CD.
• Submit and review GitHub PRs.
• Participate in sprint planning and Jira work items.
• Post daily status updates in Jira.
• Support UAT, ATO, and security compliance activities.
