Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Frontend Developer to build and modernize federal applications on a serverless AWS GovCloud stack. Remote within the CONUS, expect to grow into full-stack work with Python and AWS services.

You will develop modern web apps in JavaScript with React/Redux, ensure accessibility per WCAG 2.1 AA, and participate in testing, security practices, and Jira-driven agile processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (required) in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related STEM field with 5–10 years frontend or full-stack experience.
• 5+ years of JavaScript development.
• 2+ years of React (Redux or similar).
• 2+ years CSS/SASS experience.
• Experience integrating frontends with REST APIs on a serverless backend (AWS API Gateway, Lambda).
• Python for backend development.
• Familiarity with ML/AI basics and large language models.
• Automated testing with Cypress and Jest.
• Git and GitHub PR reviews.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Willing to earn AWS Associate cert within 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain React/Redux applications in JavaScript.
• Integrate frontends with REST APIs on AWS API Gateway and Lambda.
• Grow into full-stack by building Python backend services on AWS serverless tech.
• Incorporate AI features using LLMs and vision models with prompt/context engineering.
• Ensure accessibility and security per OWASP and Section 508/WCAG 2.1 AA.
