Job summary

Iowa Department of Revenue's Legal Services Division seeks an experienced attorney to specialize in collections and setoffs administration law for the Legal Services Section. The role includes providing advanced legal advice, drafting legislation, and advising on policy across divisions.

Preference for candidates with significant experience in collections, knowledge of administrative law, and a demonstrated interest in public service. Must reside in Iowa and complete background checks.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited law school.
Five years of full-time legal practice experience.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced legal advice and opinions to the Director and divisions.
Draft legislation, rules, declaratory orders, and other legal documents.
Analyze current state and federal law and court decisions; identify conflicts with laws and policy.
Assist decisionmakers in developing department policy.
Assist in drafting public communications.
Provide legal counsel on collections and setoff administration matters.
