Job summary

Penhall Hawaii is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers and field crews from estimate through closeout. You will help with setup, budgets, schedules, and cost tracking, while reviewing plans, subcontracts, and submittals.

The role requires a bachelor's degree or 2+ years of construction experience, familiarity with Procore/Bluebeam/Salesforce, and OSHA 30. Travel nationwide is possible; remote work flexibility based on project phase.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years construction project experience required.
• Experience with demolition, concrete, or specialty subcontracting beneficial.
• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or Salesforce required.
• Current OSHA 30 certification.
• Knowledge of Hawaii prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon requirements.
• Experience supporting field operations, cost tracking, and project coordination.
• Experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, demolition or concrete construction environments preferred.
• Understanding of drawings, specs, and contract documents.
• Knowledge of cost tracking, job costing, and project reporting.
• Experience supporting scheduling and field coordination efforts.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with project setup, budgets, schedules, and cost tracking.
• Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and transmittals.
• Review plans, specs, and subcontracts for scope and risk.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimates and proposals.
• Assemble pre-job packages with work plans, permits, and locates.
• Coordinate with GCs, owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Visit job sites to monitor progress and document conditions.
• Track production, manpower and materials, and support change order backup.
• Support payroll compliance including certified payroll.
• Assist with closeout, warranties, and lien/bond paperwork.
• Maintain project files and CRM records.
