Job summary

Overheard is seeking a freelance Content Creator to build Overheard Sports from day one. You will ideate, write, produce, and publish daily static and short video content that captures the biggest moments in sports with a culture-first lens.

This role is freelance/permalance, remote-friendly with NYC preferred, and requires fast delivery, a strong editorial voice, and the ability to own content end-to-end across formats.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in editorial, social content creation, sports media, publishing, or a similar creative field.
• Exceptional writing skills with a comedic sensibility and the Overheard voice.
• Deep familiarity with sports and sports culture across multiple leagues.
• Experience launching or growing a social account; able to show work.
• Proven ability to ideate and execute social-first content across Instagram and TikTok.
• Comfortable using analytics and audience signals to guide content decisions.
• Able to fully produce your own content: mems, graphics, and carousels, and shoot/edit video.

Responsibilities

• Define the voice and visual identity for Overheard Sports before and through launch.
• Publish daily content across static and short video formats with high shareability.
• Create memes, graphics, and scripts in the Overheard voice for sports and pop culture audiences.
• Move quickly on live moments to keep the page part of in-game conversations.
• Monitor trends and audience signals to inform content ideas and strategy.
• Collaborate with Editor, Social Leads, and broader team to uphold brand consistency.
• Fully produce content from idea to publish, including Canva designs and video edits.
