Job summary

Atomic Vest is seeking a part-time Financial Operations Analyst, Tax for a late-2026 to early-2027 engagement. The role is remote-based in the US or LATAM, averaging ~20 hours per week.

You will own end-customer tax reporting and withholding for brokerage accounts, coordinating with FinOp and engineering to ensure accurate year-end filings. You will review tax forms, reconcile with the GL, and help implement regulatory changes, documenting procedures for a smooth handoff after the engagement

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in tax operations, tax reporting, and withholding at a broker-dealer, bank, custodian, or fintech (withholding agent)
• Working knowledge of IRS withholding and information reporting rules (Chapters 3, 4, and 61), including Forms W-8, W-9, 1099, and 1042-S
• Experience reconciling large data sets and resolving discrepancies; advanced Excel skills
• Availability for approximately 20 hours per week on average from late October 2026 through April 2027, with flexibility around peak filing deadlines
• Advanced-level English for cross-team collaboration

Responsibilities

• Own overall coordination of 2026 end-customer tax reporting and withholding for brokerage accounts, including backup withholding and NRA withholding under FATCA and treaty rates
• Review and validate end-customer W-9 and W-8 tax documentation and withholding/reporting treatment
• Reconcile withheld tax to customer accounts and the InteliClear GL, coordinating with FinOp for timely IRS deposits
• Work with FIS tax reporting and engineering teams to prepare, review, and file year-end returns (Forms 1099, 1042-S, 945, 1042) and corrections
• Respond to customer and partner tax inquiries with customer support
• Implement changes due to new tax regulations and maintain written procedures and controls
• Document processes and prepare handoff for next tax season
