Work Friendly Consulting, a Chicago-based HR and Talent Acquisition firm, is seeking a People Consultant to deliver exceptional, people-first HR support for multiple clients as a fractional resource. You’ll advise on onboarding, performance, benefits, employee relations, and compliance while partnering with client leadership to align programs with business goals.

• Seven+ years in generalist HR, preferably in consulting.
• Strong HR operations knowledge: payroll, benefits, compliance, performance, recruiting.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Confident communicator able to engage executive stakeholders.
• Collaborative but able to work independently.
• Proactive problem-solver who builds from scratch.
• Client-focused and service-minded.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a fractional HR resource for multiple clients across onboarding, performance, benefits, employee relations and compliance.
• Partner with client leadership to assess HR programs, identify gaps, and implement solutions aligned to business goals.
• Provide guidance on employment law, HR compliance, and policy development.
• Deliver high-touch client service and act as first point of contact for HR support.
• Support selection, implementation and optimization of HRIS platforms (Workday, ADP, Rippling, Paycom, Paylocity).
• Help manage payroll processing including setup of schedules, tax codes, deductions, and adjustments.
• Contribute to broader HR initiatives such as performance management design, culture and engagement, talent strategy, and full-cycle recruiting and onboarding.
